About us

Marrickville BDS an ad hoc group of Marrickville residents who have been shocked at the harassment suffered by our local Council and the councilors who represent us since they took a conscientious decision to endorse  the Palestinian call for  Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel until that country complies with international humanitarian law.

The decision to support the global BDS campaign was supported by 10 councillors from the Australian Labor Party, the Greens and an Independent councillor.

The Palestinian Civil Society Call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions against Israel Until it Complies with International Law and Universal Principles of Human Rights was originally issued  one year after the historic Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ). This found Israel’s Wall built on occupied Palestinian territory to be illegal.

We are responding to the Palestinian civil society call on organizations and people of conscience all over the world to impose broad boycotts and implement divestment initiatives against Israel similar to those applied to South Africa in the apartheid era and to maintain these non-violent punitive measures until Israel meets its obligations under international humanitarian law by:
1. Ending its occupation and colonization of all Arab lands and dismantling the Wall;
2. Recognizing the fundamental rights of the Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel to full equality; and
3. Respecting, protecting and promoting the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and properties as stipulated in UN resolution 194.

  1. I am a Jewish Israeli and Australian human rights and peace activist . I have worked in Israel documenting human rights abuses and am happy to come to Sydney to talk about why you should support the BDS campaign. I m based in Melbourne.

    Both Israeli and Palestinian human rights and peace organisations are calling for the world to support the BDS campaign, which they see as a method of challenging
    the discriminatory policies of the Israeli government .

    Now more than ever we need your help in supporting the Israeli Palestinian human rights and peace activist. I have worked in the Israeli peace organisations for over 20 years and it is with a very broken heart that I say we have not moved forward rather that I have witnessed the countries transition to an apartheid state and now we desperately need the world help to bring back justice for all.
